Tukanaka Red Caapi in 30:1 Paste

Tukanaka is a red-hued variety of Banisteriopsis caapi that grows in the Brazilian Amazon. The name Tukanaka distinguishes it from other Caapi cultivars, and the reddish coloration of the vine gives it the 'red' designation among practitioners. Like all Caapi varieties, it contains the beta-carboline alkaloids harmine, harmaline and tetrahydroharmine (THH). The red colouration runs deep into the vine's cross-section and is not merely superficial.

Production and Sourcing

The paste is produced from fresh-harvested Tukanaka vine by caboclo communities in the southern Brazilian Amazon. The 30:1 concentration ratio compresses 30kg of fresh vine material into 1kg of paste, making it a highly concentrated format that preserves the full beta-carboline spectrum. The red coloration of the source vine carries through into the finished paste, distinguishing it visually from the Caupuri and Ourinho varieties and making it easy for your customers to identify.

Expanding Your Caapi Range

Tukanaka paste offers a Brazilian-origin alternative alongside the Peruvian Caupuri paste and Brazilian Ourinho paste. Offering all three varieties allows your customers to explore the remarkable diversity within this single species. Each carries its own character and provenance.

Why is Tukanaka called 'red' Caapi?

Tukanaka produces a distinctly reddish-coloured vine. This coloration runs through the cross-section of the vine and carries through into the finished 30:1 paste, making it visually distinct from the golden Ourinho and the knotted Caupuri varieties.

Where is Tukanaka Caapi sourced?

Tukanaka comes from the southern Brazilian Amazon, where it is wild-harvested by caboclo communities. The Caupuri variety comes from Peru, offering geographic sourcing diversity within the Caapi range.
