Leaf maturity at harvest is the primary variable separating the three main kratom colors. Green kratom leaves are picked at an intermediate stage — more developed than white kratom, less so than red. The drying process is also less intensive than what red kratom undergoes, typically involving shorter indoor or shaded drying.

The alkaloid profile reflects this middle position. Mitragynine concentrations in green kratom are generally moderate, with a different minor alkaloid ratio than red or white. For retailers, this means green kratom appeals to customers who have already explored both ends of the spectrum and want something with a distinct character of its own.
