Wholesale Sage Smudge Sticks: White Sage, Blue Sage and Dragon's Blood Sage
Smudging with sage is a purification practice rooted in Indigenous North American traditions. The burning of white sage (Salvia apiana) in particular is central to many ceremonial practices across the American Southwest and beyond. The smoke is used to cleanse a space, a person, or objects before ceremony, meditation, or energetic work. Your customers use it as part of their own practice and sell it to theirs.
Three varieties cover most of the retail demand in this category:
White sage (Salvia apiana) is the most widely recognised variety. Strong, herbaceous, and classic. It is the standard for smudging in the European wellness retail market.
Blue sage is milder and sweeter than white sage — preferred by customers who find white sage too intense, and useful for retail shops that want to offer an accessible entry point into smudging.
Dragon's blood sage combines white sage with dragon's blood resin (from the Dracaena or Croton genus), producing a deeper, slightly earthy-sweet scent and a red tinge to the bundle. It is visually distinctive and tends to attract customers who have moved beyond the entry-level sage bundle.
Why Stock Multiple Varieties
Retailers who offer all three varieties see better per-customer basket values than those who stock only white sage. Customers frequently buy two at once — one for regular use, one to try. The visual and scent differentiation between varieties is clear enough that display sells itself. Our Blue Sage bundles and Dragon's Blood Sage bundles are available in packs of 2, a format that suits both retail display and wholesale ordering.
Shelf Life and Storage
Dried sage bundles have a long shelf life when stored correctly: cool, dry, and out of direct sunlight. Humidity is the main enemy, it can cause mould or cause the bundle to lose its aromatic intensity. Keep sage in a ventilated area or in natural paper or cloth packaging. Avoid sealed plastic, which traps moisture.
White sage (Salvia apiana) has the strongest, most herbaceous scent and is the traditional smudging variety. Blue sage is milder and sweeter: a good option for beginners or those sensitive to strong scents. Dragon's blood sage adds Dracaena resin to white sage, giving a deeper, slightly sweet-earthy aroma and a distinctive red hue. Each suits different customer preferences and practices.
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Avoid sealed plastic packaging, which traps moisture and can cause mould. Natural paper or cloth wrapping works well. Keep away from direct sunlight to preserve both the aromatic quality and the visual appearance of the bundle. Shelf life is 12+ months under correct conditions.

Yes. Sage and palo santo are frequently ordered together and complement each other well on a retail shelf. Our Palo Santo wood sticks are available in the same wholesale order. Many ceremony-focused retailers carry both as part of a complete cleansing range.
